Senior Member | [HOW TO] Create a PTC site + Adverts Hello all, and welcome to the first part of my CREATE A PTC SITE guides. If I receive good feedback on this one, there is a likelihood that I will create a second part. In this guide I will take you through 2 different scripts and make mention to 2 different advertisers you can use with your PTC site. Now, this won't be completely indepth, as I myself haven't yet attempted to use the advertisers with the scripts, however I'm sure you will be able to figure it out yourself. YOU WILL NEED A PTC script. Feel free to use the ones below, or purchase one (search google to purchase one). I suggest downloading PTCscript2.rar and skipping right to the installation of that one.
A host for your files. You can select from a range of hosts, but at the moment my best suggestion would be DreamHost, who are offering unlimited space and bandwidth. A collection of promo codes for DreamHost (Enter them at the bottom of the signup page)
An FTP program to access your server. You can use the freeware program FileZilla effectively for this. An Advertiser We will get to this later! Only install ONE in a certain directory. If you only wish to install one, I suggest skipping right to the 2nd PTC script! I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY IF YOU FUCK UP!... just thought I should say. Also, if I made a mistake, I'm really sorry if it causes you troubles. I will try my best to help solve any problems and will fix the guide accordingly. We will start with the installation of PTCscript1! (More difficult and not as good as PTCsite2) Step 1 - Uploading the Files Firstly, please note that script 2 is better, more secure and easier to setup. This one is a little bit more in depth and requires more work. Begin by opening FileZilla and connecting to your server. Upload all the files and folders except for 'installation'. This should be pretty straight forward. Step 2 - Uploading sqldump.sql Firstly create a mySql table. This can often be done from the 'mySql' page. It does not matter what name you enter, or are given. Now, find phpMyAdmin in your hosting control panel. (Have to be vague, as it depends from host to host.) Once logged in, select the database from the drop-down list from the left section of the page. Now, click SQL from the top menu of the main section. Use the Location of the textfile select the file to upload (sqldump.sql). If asked to choose compression, choose None! Now, upload the file. (Comment >> Yes I know this can be done through shell, but it's easier this way) Step 3 - Editing dbconnect.php In the folder in which you extracted the files on your local computer, open dbconnect.php in either Notepad or Dreamweaver. You will be presented with something similar to Code: <?php mysql_connect('localhost','root','asdfgh'); mysql_select_db('ptcinv'); ?> Code: <?php mysql_connect('localhost','username','password'); mysql_select_db('database'); ?> Step 4 - Editing vars.php Now open vars.php in NotePad or Dreamweaver and edit it. This one is pretty straight forward. Once done editing, save and then reupload, over writing the old file. Step 5 - Password protect the admin folder. Yes, I know, this script is a little lame. In your cpanel (or panel offered), go to either a password protect folder page, or to the file browser and password protect your 'admin' folder. Step 6 - Login to admin and go Now, navigate to www.yoursite.com/admin and enter the password you set for the admin folder. You can control the PTC site from this admin folder. Step 7 - Advertisers Scroll down. Now how to install PTCsite2 (The better one) Step 1 - Uploading the Files Begin by opening FileZilla and connecting to your server. Upload all the files in the 'script' folder. This should be pretty straight forward. Step 2 - Uploading sqldump.sql Firstly create a mySql table. This can often be done from the 'mySql' page. It does not matter what name you enter, or are given. Now, find the file 'database.txt' in the place you extracted the files. Rename this to sqldump.sql Now, find phpMyAdmin in your hosting control panel. (Comment >> Yes I know this can be done through shell, but it's easier this way... also that I got lazy) Step 3 - Modifying the Config Files Firstly open 'config.php' in the 'script' folder in Notepad or Dreamweaver. You will be presented with a script which looks like pdate the 'username' that you entered or were given when creating your database. Do the same for 'password' for the password and 'database' for the name of the database. Change the url to your site url, including the www.net. Now, upload this using FileZilla and replace 'config.php' and then upload it again replacing '/admin/config.php', as they are the same files. Step 4 - Access The Admin Panel Navigate to www.yoursite.com/admin and login using admin as your username and 123456 as your password. Edit your settings as you like. Step 5 - Advertisers Look down! ADDED Quote:
Advertisers The true nature of PTC sites is the fact that you send users to advertisers in attempts to sign them up; then use some of the money which you get back to pay the user. This is known as CPA - Cost per Acquisition (A user signs up) and CPL - Cost Per Lead (Leading a potential customer to a site) I have not yet had any experience with advertisers, however there are many ways you can find them. You can either have them sign up directly on your site, paying a flat rate for clicks. You can also contact organisations asking if anything is available. My preference is to use a marketing company. Two which may possibly work well with PTC are: - Cactus Media - The Leader In Performance Based Marketing! - Pay Per Lead Advertising Cost Per Lead CPL Advertising Pay Per Lead Program Pay Per Lead Affiliate Program Banner Ad Affiliate Campaigns Sign up on both if you wish. Cactus media includes ones like blockbuster I believe. Please remember, I have not had any experience with either, and I am not sure how easily it would be to use their services with these PTC scripts. I hope that you have enjoyed reading this and that it has helped you. If you experience any problems, please just reply and I'll try my best to fix things up if I can. If you notice I have forgotten something or made a mistake, please PM me or just reply. Hopefully your PTC works well, and you can have fun starting to momentize it. Personal note to self - NEVER FUCKING DO THAT AGAIN YOU DUMBASS!... NOW YOUR WRISTS ARE SORE AND IT'S 1AM IN THE MORNING! If you enjoyed please +rep or donate! Senior Member | Yes, they can. After momentizing the site, and the user base grows, there are many sources of revenue. >> Adverts >> Future selling (More members, more hits, the more you can sell the site for at like sitepoint.com or another website bid site.) >> The main CPA and CPL ads... They only give back a percentage to the user. Not only that, but the user does not always complete enough to cash out, leaving more cash in pocket for the owner. |

Programmer | You shouldn't have tried to dumb it down. The more idiots that mess up on this, the more retards we have posting "OMG OMG OMG". You should have had the post keep its integrity rather than trying to dumb it down for people because only smart people should be doing this anyways. Overall good tutorial though! GJ +Rep |

And if other people quit like you mentioned you would earn yourself free clicks... and you can even display some affiliate products so if your website is really popular you could earn $20 for each product you sell from being an affiliate... Not to mention adding google or yahoo ads.. Wow this doesn't seem like a pretty bad idea.. And if it doesn't go well you can always flip the site for a lot of cash if you have good revenue.. I don't think I'm going to make one though.. PTC's aren't really my thing. |

Senior Member | actually, its 1 cent per click, half a cent per ref clicks, unless they purchase premium also when they buy premium, usually u set it to 1.25 cents per click, and 1 cent per ref click and normally ads r set at this price- 500 clicks for $10 which means the ptc site is still making money even when u purchase refs, cause not every1 buys premium or gets refs, and they ONLY LOSE MONEY WHEN THEY PAY OUT, but they make money when sum1 advertises truthfully, u can make a little at first, then it'll get good also if u look at champ's ptc in my sig, hes a great owner and making some money, people buy his ref packages (because he guarantees most r active) and if not he'll change them for u as in he guarantees they click at least the first 3 days idk, but champ runs his ptc really nicely, and hes making a profit, and he started not too long ago also he has $1,000 backed up just incase __________________ For donations: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/websc...=Z4WG5ZZHTWZ9U |

I think he's found a better way then using CL or pepsi to pay the bills . His website is becoming very popular too. And 7usaball, there are different amounts PTC pays. It doesn't have to be strictly 0.01. Like somebody said above, it really depends on how greedy the admin is. |

Only place where I have seen such low rate is DonkeyMails they pay 0.01 cent for every 20 second ad. I have seen a lot of times advertisers paying $2 per view too, yes its real. For instance, If you have a site related to computer and you put Google ads you might e lucky to get ads from Microsoft and/or Intel which gives you $1-2 per ad. This is only possible if you have your account in good standing. One cent per view is what every advertisers can afford. __________________ | |
